    Default Steering wheel swap

    Okay, I am about to buy my new Momo steering wheel and a quick release hub soon, and I was wondering about installing it. I know someone here has done this, so can someone enlighten me, or hook me up with a number to a shop that will do it for a good price? The new ring will be going in a 97 civic( don't really think it matter!)Thanks!

    The hub should come with instructions. I don't know about the quick-releases, but the normal hub took about 25mins to install in my Miata on my first try.

    1. Disconnect Battery
    Make sure you do this first. The last thing you want is for a static charge to set off your airbag during a removal.

    2. Remove Steering Console Cover
    Should be about 4 screws on the bottom half. It should then just clip apart into a top and bottom piece.

    3. Remove Stock Steering Wheel
    There should be two screws or 10-12mm on the bottom part of the steering wheel. Remove these and the center part of the steering wheel containing the airbag should come right out. Disconnect the airbag and remove it. Behind that, there should be one big locknut hold the steering wheel to the steering rack. I think it's a 17mm, but I'm not sure. Remove this nut and set it to the side. To remove the steering wheel itself, you may need some muscle. They have a puller that you can rent from Auto-zone, but I just sprayed on some WD40, shook it a little, then pulled like hell.

    4. Plug in Airbag Dummy Plug
    There should be a plug that comes with your hub to turn off the Airbag Light. Plug this in and ignore it for now. When you reinstall your Steering Console Cover, it'll hide the plug.

    6. Attach the MOMO Hub & Steering Wheel
    There's an arrow on the top of the hub pointing to a hole that should indicate "This Side Up". Slide it on with the arrow on top then replace that huge center locknut to secure it. DON'T TIGHTEN THE LOCKNUT YET! Put the correct horn center ring (the shiney silver ring) and steering wheel on, then check the alignment of the front wheels with your steering wheel. Make any adjustments that you need to, then tighten down the locknut and the steering wheel. Be careful when tightening the steering wheel because the little allenscrews that MOMO uses strip pretty easily.

    5. Connect Horn
    There's a hotwire and a ground. I didn't bother with this so I can't help you here. There should be something in the instructions for it tho. Do what you need to do, then wedge the horn button into the center of the wheel.

    6. Reinstall Steering Console Cover
    Reattach the console cover and make sure it's properly clipped together in all the proper places. Also make sure that the airbag dummy plug doesn't hit anything when you turn the steering wheel. Go full-lock from side to side to test. Screw the console back together.

    7. Reconnect Battery
    Dur

    For the whole operation, you'll need a phillips head screwdriver, a small allen wrench, and a rachet with some sockets. I think the biggest is a 17 for the huge lock nut. I can't remember.

    This write-up is for the standard hub, but the quick release can't be much more difficult. If it takes you more than a hour, end yourself. Good luck!

    i'll do it for 35 and i work at honda and i've done it a million times. lol lmk oh and one condition and can't be anything ricey i rufuse to support the ricers in this world.

    hey 35$ seems ok. Can you install

    into my 1989 diahatsu charade
    I have all necessary tools and the adapter hub.. but cant seem to get it right. I will pay you 35 bux if you can do it. I will drive any distance.
