Tint on headlights or any lights????????

I was thinking about putting a film of VERY light tint across my headlights and tail lights to give them a darker look for when i get my carbon fiber hood (dont really like have a carbon hood and clear head lights) has anyone ever tried this type of thing on a car's lights. Andis it legal?

I have the ION headlights \/ \/ \/ \/ \/ \/ cops pulled me over but never got a ticket

I tinted my tail lights on my old del Sol using the krylon stained glass paint (they have it in black).. still lets a GOOD amount of light through, and gives that lightly tinted look without being just painted black. I'll put up pics when I get home.
