    Default Anybody have an RC-51?

I'm hopefully picking one up next week. Just wondering if anyone else has one, and how they like it. Any gripes with it? What mods do you have? How has it held together with the mileage?

Racing down I-95 doing speeds of 110-130, during traffic and after getting caught in the rain. It was a good way of drying off though.

I am getting one after I sell my ZX-7R. That is not a bike to play with. It is basically a street legal race bike with headlights and a license plate.

It's still heavy and slower than most of the new bikes. Plus it is no fun when you are sitting in traffic with your nuts cooking at 240 degrees....

you should start out on something like a cbr600 f4i, or an r6 or something. Starting on that bike is like satrting on an R1, a bad idea all around.

    I had an 03 rc51.
    I didnt really love it.
Its a little heavy, and slower-steering than most of the new 4 cyl bikes.
The trade-off is the high speed stability.
Its got good power, but it really doesnt feel like a big vtwin...its power is higher in the rev range than you would expect.
The digital guages are cool at first, but bad in sunlight.
The brakes are awesome though...probably the most responsive stock brake setup of any bike Ive had.
Its an old design also, compared to most newer ones.
Oh, and it does run hot as hell, esp in traffic. Def a nut cooker.
Id be hesitant to recommend one. Id buy a new gsxr750 over about any japanese bike right now personally.
