    Default Where to buy bikes

Is there anywhere online that people post bikes for sale, beside cycletrader.com?

CONYERS It seems Rockdale County is becoming the Mecca of motorcycle enthusiasts.

The impressive Granite Mountain Harley Davidson store on Dogwood Drive opened its doors after a year of construction last spring. Now, nearby, Outdoor Powersports Yamaha plans to expand its presence as well, with a super center that will sit just across the interstate from Harley Davidson. The new store, which will be called Mountain Adventures, will be the largest of its kind in the Atlanta area, offering all Japanese-brand motorbikes and other products under one roof.

Its probably going to be one of the most drastic before and after stories ever, said Ryan Hardwick, part-owner of Outdoor Powersports and vice-president of Georgia operations. It will look very similar to the Bass Pro outlets, in that it will be an entire town inside the store ... it will be an environment like no other in motorcycles dealerships.

Construction is already under way at 899 Iris Drive, the location Hardwick has chosen for the new super center. A large warehouse facility, the property was formerly owned by Williams Brothers Lumber Company. However, earlier this month, Williams Brothers decided to relocate farther down Interstate 20 to focus more on its wholesale market.

Renovation of the new area is expected to take three months and should be completed by mid-March. Hardwick said the group has hired a group of artists, interior designers and architects whose resumes includes projects like the Dollywood Theme Park and the Dixie Stampede Dinner Theater.

The end result will be a showroom unlike any other in Atlanta. With around 40,000 square feet of space, Mountain Adventures will offer every major Japanese brand-Kawasaki, Honda, Sea-Doo, and Suzuki in an environment that truly represents all the best of water and road sports and racing.

Hardwick first brought Mountain Adventures to Conyers a year ago, with the purchase of Outdoor Powersports on Dogwood Drive and Kawasaki Motorsports on Iris Drive. Hardwick is from Tennessee, where his partners Justin Price and Charley Jansing still run a Mountain Adventures in Pigeon Forge, Tenn. Jansing is the CEO of the company, while Price is the vice-president of Tennessee operations.

The move to Atlanta was fueled by the growing motorcycle culture here, Hardwick said, especially in east metro Atlanta.

Rockdale and Newton counties are growing every year, and motorcycle sales in Atlanta have been increasing for years, so this market is very strong, Hardwick said.

The business is also a dream for Hardwick, who grew up racing monocycles and later excelled professionally. Hardwick won the national championship for Yamaha jet ski racing for three years, and the world championship in Arizona in 2002. He says many of his employees are like-minded, in that they are all motorcycle junkies who either race or joy ride on the side.

If you love what you do, its not work, but you still get paid, he said.

WOW is overpriced, I agree. But if you are not willing to travel out of state to buy a bike then that is the best bet. The best deals you will ever find will be out of state. My first bike I bought from California and had it shipped over, my second bike was an R1 I bought and drove to Louisiana to pick up. It is like buying a car, when a unbelievable deal comes along you have to jump on it, even if it isnt local. Local, WOW is your best bet.
