I was wondering if there was a 5th gear made that would benefit me in gas economy. I'm not looking to autocross anytime soon so not having a "pulling" fifth gear isn't going to hurt me.

Here it is... I know that an LS Integra runs right at 3k RPM at 80 MPH and my GSR runs 4k at the same speed.
Now, I also know that the final drives are probably different but would dropping an LS fifth gear in place of my GSR fifth be much of a benefit?

If so, how much?
lol, autocross in 5th gear?! you know better than that...you'd be lucky to be in 3rd just long enough to downshift back to second.

The LS 5th is the longest gear of any b-series BUT it's got a 4.266 FD so you can't compare it to an LS...i couldn't tell you what RPM you would be running with the stock 4.40....guess i could sit down and work the variables out or find an LS owner that has put a 4.40 FD in.

USDM and '96-97 Honda ITR is already 4.40, the 2nd gen Honda ITR (98+) had a 4.785 FD.
