Engine Swap - Shop Recommendation?

'Sup everyone? I need some advice about where I can get an engine swap done on my 95 Mazda 626 2.0L ATX. I want to drop in a KL-ZE with a MTX, but an ATX is also an option. I was looking on a site for the engine, tranny, ac, wiring, etc. They have a MTX package for $1420. The ATX package is $950, but it doesn't include everything that the MTX package does. So what I need to know is: Can anyone recommend a shop that can do this for a reasonable price while still doing quality work?

I looked at Nadauto.com, but their Mazda section isn't clickable. I'll have to give 'em a call. And I couldn't find Best Japanese Engine. The site I originally looked at was fnf-motors.com

Nadauto 900-1000 if he have it in stock...They test there engine before they sell them,and their real nice 2.Best jap engine price is the same telephone(this is 4 the engine alone,don't know how much 4 engine and tranm ission 2gether) #

Thanks! No my car isn't a V6, it's just the 118hp 2.0L. There's nothing wrong with the engine, it's just the tranny that's giving me trouble. I want to go ahead and swap in a V6 with either an ATX or MTX. It doesn't matter which because both are Mazda designed, unlike the the CD4E tranny that I have now which was designed by Ford.

you know doing the 2.5 swap is very simple, if you read up on it (there are tons of how-tos) and got the parts you could easily do it yourself in a weekend with some help.

As for the best shop to go to, the only one that i've talked to that even knew what a klze was, was sunbelt performance in buford. But they only rebuild and do performance upgrades to motors themselves. You could talk to balance performance but you will be paying out the arse.

Your main problem is that according to your signature you have a 95, OBDII to get a 2.5 klze your going to need to find a pre 93-92 and get the guts and wiring harness out of it. because the klze uses 2 ecu kl31/kl36. which are OBDI now you can use a kl68 ecu but this ecu uses a maf instead of a vaf which means your wiring harness still isnt compatable and you would have to get one from japan or australia (damn near impossible).

Another problem Mazda's Auto trannies suck period, people have done 2.5 klze swaps with atx's and well Rip boom kaploosh. They just dont like the amount of power that the motor gives. So a manual tranny would be in your best intrest, Also if you do go manual get an mx-6 transmission they will bolt right up and you'll have a taller 5th gear which will help ya out on the gas.

I recomend going to BJE. I've bought 2 motors from them myself (2.5l Klze and 2.0 Kfze) and they have some of the best motors, and also compression test each motor, and they have 2 month warranty.

If you have any other questions your best bet would be to go to www.atlantamx3.com/mocaforum thats Moca's forum (mx-3 owners club of atlanta) we have the most number of Klze swaps in georgia and possibly the south, we've done over 5 swaps for just the k series motors

I haven't gotten around to it yet. I bought another car instead, so the 626 is kinda on the back-burner for now. It drives fine, atm. Hopefully by this time next year it will be done. I'll be sure to check out the shops you guys mentioned, and also the mx3 website.

another option and i dont know how much your looking to do is to swap the KJ motor the 2.3 Supercharged MillerCycle motor out of the millenia S the HP isnt that much than the klze hp but its torque is about the same as its HP. 210bhp and about the same for torque

I heard the MillerCycle is expensive when it comes to maintenance.

somewhat the main problem with the motor is the seals on teh supercharger are crap

I'll probably just stick with one of the KLs. I'll even settle for the DE.

Oh yeah, in response to your first reply, I thought the 95 and older models were OBDI? I thought that's why I can't use a CEL code reader. :confused:

mazda went obdII in 94

Maybe it was just on the MX3? I'm pretty sure that my car is OBDI. On the 626, they went OBDII in 96.

its possible, dunno i figured since mx6's and probes and mx3s all went obdII in 94 that all the other k series cars would of done the same

According to them, OBDI on the 626/MX6/Probe GT is from 93-95. OBDII is from 96+.

Mazda went ob2 in 95-96,not 94

most cars went obd2 somewhere in 95.... basically 96' but a lot of 95' cars are obd2.
