I bought a set of Stainless Steel headers for my G35.
The tig welds and everything looks nice. However, as they bore and smoothed out the ports, I get the feeling that the Welded edges on the flanges are kinda too thin and afraid of leakage in the future.
1. Should I have some of the shop reinforce those joins? Or I'm just being lil too cautious and paranoid?
Also, I plan to get them Coated for durability and lessen the radiated heat. I found a local place that can do ceramic coating, ProCryo.
2. Should I get it done there or where else can I get it done for better price?
Also, the collector outputs of these headers are larger than 2.25" but smaller then 2.5" in diameters. This is per 3 cylinders of the V6.
3. Should I get them custom make to 2.5"? Or leave it like that and make the resonated pipes to convert them to 2.5" pipes for the dual exhaust?
Thanks guys. My goal is to have best gain possible and a future proof setup for FI (either Supercharged - That's why I need strong headers, or TT setup - Ditch the headers later on). However, I won't go FI for a while, probably 2 years later since I have other priorities.
Thanks again for the help.
