Actually, the Conquest and Starion where the first products of the Diamond Star Motors project between Chrysler and Mitsubishi. Although not "offically" accepted as a DSM, iirc they have the DSM plates on the firewall just like all the Talons, Eclipses, Lasers, and Galant VR-4s.
Also the 3000GT and Stealth where a DSM product, and I belive they have the DSM badges on the firewall as well.

Research a little deeper and fill in these small holes!

First off the FIRST RELATIONSHIP ties between the companies were the Dodge Caravan and Aries in the early 70s using Mitsubishi parts. Had nothing to do with Diamond Star Motors.

Galant vr4's DO NOT have a DSM plate on the firewall because they HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH A DSM. THEY WERE IMPORTED BY MITSUBISHI FOR MITSUBISHI. THEY SHARE THE SAME DRIVETRAIN AS A 1G BUT STARTED LIFE IN 1987, 3 YEARS BEFORE A "DSM" ROLLED OFF A LINE IN ILLINOIS.


The vehicles were produced with the names Eagle Talon, Mitsubishi Eclipse, and Plymouth Laser. DSM cars are assembled in Normal, Illinois. The '94-and-up Mitsubishi Galant is also assembled at the DSM plant in IL; previous Galant's were assembled in Japan. The Eclipse and Galant (since '89) share the same platform.

During the early 1980s, Chrysler was looking to boost lagging sales while Mitsubishi sought to increase its presence in America without violating the voluntary US/Japan import-quota system. In October 1985, the two parent companies officially incorporated Diamond Star Motors, and in April 1986 ground was broken on a 1.9 million square-foot (177,000m²) production facility in Normal, Illinois. The plant was completed in March 1988, with an annual capacity of 240,000 vehicles.

1989 started production, so HOW could a Starion be a DSM when it was being produced 6 years earlier in Japan then shipped here as a Conquest?

In 1991, Mitsubishi developed a sport coupe to compete with the Toyota Supra, Mazda RX-7, Nissan 300ZX, Chevrolet Corvette, and low-end Porsches. They resurrected the GTO name, and the car went on to serve as Mitsubishi’s flagship for the remainder of the decade. However, despite the cachet of the badge in its home market, it was known as the Mitsubishi 3000GT in Europe, Australia and the United States, to avoid confusion with the Ferrari GTO Pontiac GTO.

With some cosmetic changes, the model was also sold by Chrysler in the US from 1991-96 as the Dodge Stealth

Regardless of its badge or eventual target market, every GTO, 3000GT, and Stealth was built on the same production line at MMC's plant in Nagoya, Japan.
The Mitsubishi 3000GT was built in three major versions: base, SL (Sport Luxury), and VR-4. Japanese customers also had special lightened and tuned-up MR (Mitsubishi Racing) versions of the GTO. The Dodge Stealth came in base, ES, R/T, and R/T Twin Turbo versions.

Only the twin turbo 4WD version was officially imported and sold in low numbers by Mitsubishi Australia. These were sold at relatively high prices as an exclusive model in the Australian market. However, many more second-hand cars from Japan were later imported by Australian used car importers (like Australia, Japan is a right hand drive nation making used Japanese performance cars a popular import). Used models of the cars officially imported by Mitsubishi and sold new in Australia still command a premium price over the later "grey market" imports where the are advertised as "original Australian compliance plated" models.

First of all, the comments above are just childish, grow up and get out of the high school drama. Also, talking down to me over the internet makes you a better person than I, congradulations on haveing a larger e-penis than I.:jerkit:

Second, I have no problem admiting I was apperantly misinformed. I will go back to my source and let them know. However jumping on my back just because I made a comment that was not right, is not the right thing to do.

I dont mind the getting called out on it, I should be. It was a misinformation that should be corrected. There are however more mature ways to do so than the uber cool e-thugging style. Having some class, and politely pointing out that I made a mistake or was simply misinformed will get you much further in this world than being an over dramatic, egotistical cock.

I dont doubt his god-likeness over Mitsu and DSM stuff, however I also did not know that he was such before this post was made. If I had known I probably would have kept my post to myself, dont a little research to find out how to back my statements up, at which point I would have found out I was wrong and nothing would have happend at all. I was simply stating there was a better way to handle it than was done.
