    Default Parts Question

Just curious but if someone had a 2003 Spec witha few engine mods, are there any parts from that engine that would fit on a 2001 SE. I know my engine is the SR20DE engine and i believe the 03 Specs and GR25 engines or something like that. Just curious to if like headers, intakes and trottle bodys and such would be able to fit in each engine!

Can someone give me a good answer. i am looking at trying to get more powerout my engine, without going really really into it. You know just like getting a header back exhuast system, well just headres and cat, already have the exhuast. Intake. WOndering if redoing the iginition system (wires and spark plug) will give more power. Just need some general suggestions of what i can get that should give me more power!

Save up and build a turbo setup. There are a billion upgrades out there for the sr20, even the FWD version that you have. Try:

There are more than enough parts for your car. What are your goals? How much can you spend? Upgrading your ingition parts will do little for you at this point.

Yeah, i will aspirate my car, eventually down the line, but for right now i guess i am just looking for more power. You know maybe a 50hp gain not much, just a bit more to give my car bigger balls. You know just kinda hit the basics first then build from there, but just curious as to what the basics might cover!

Yeah been looking into that. That was the next thing i was going to get was upgrade my Number #1 Intake to a Ingen Race intake, and try and find a header back exhuast system. I already have the HKS Drager Cat Back exhuast system. Or should i get a good set of headers (brand ) with a new exhuast system the whole way back or should i take to one of the shops from this site get a price on some headers and straight pipe to the pre-existing exhuast?

A 50hp gain in a 2.0L 4 cylinder is a big jump. Your SR is factory rated at 145 +/- right, 120ish at the wheels? Unless you add some cams, raise the compression ratio, remap the ecu, raise the rev limit, and do some head and intake work 50hp is out of the question.

Start with the header, exhaust, high flow cat (or just get rid of it with a "test pipe", 1996 and up, no CEL = no fail emissions, I don't know how to prevent a light on an SR powered car, but I'm one cat down one to go, with no light on my QR), intake, SAFC. That's a start but nowhere near 50hp. By the time you get 50 hp you'd already be in the price range of a turbo. I don't think there is a kit for the B15 models w/ an SR, but I'm sure one could be adapted. If you really want more power but don't know where to start, you really need to consider researching first, reading some books, or ploping down the cash to have someone do it for you. Any way you go it's going to cost money. You could spend 1000+ plus just for a header, exhaust, test pipe, intake, SAFC and tuning, even if you install it your self and depending on which parts/brand you chose to go with. When/if you want more power you'll have to start taking the motor apart, cams, springs, head work, pistons, engine managment, and that's where it gets expensive. That's why so many poeple stop at header, intake, exhaust, pulleys, and maybe cams.

You need to look at what you want to spend, what you want the car to do, and what your options are. NOS will deffinatly meet your goals and is the cheapest way to go, no other mods needed, but it's hardly suitable for anything other that strait lines.

You don't need a header back exhaust system, just the pipe that goes between the exhaust you have now and the manifold/header. Don't get caught up in brands they'll end up costing more. EBAY FTW. Get a header, it's like trying to piss while squeezing your johnson, it dosn't matter where you squeeze it it's going to make it difficult, you could have a 6' cat back but if most of the restriction is in the manifold and cats all you accomplished was making your car louder.

yeah thanks. I didnt mean 50 to the wheel just about a 50-60 peak gain. I will look around ebay and see if they have any headers. But the cool thing is my brother and a few of his best friends are mechanics and one owns his own performance shop in SC. But the next thing i am going to do is get a new intake and do the exhuast system, then work from there!
