Has any had any luck with the phantom grip lsd?
Has any had any luck with the phantom grip lsd?
I've used it in one of my cars. It worked ok but nothing like a real diff would. I used the upgraded springs which was a noticeable difference from a friend who had the same car with the standard springs. It works like a clutch type diff so its not a great idea for FWD but works for RWD setups. From the looks of it, it would have to cause more wear on the spider gears of the diff but it worked fine on my car for the year I ran it.

What application would you be using this on? I have only heard bad things about it myself. You're trying to make an open diff a locking diff and it is not set up to take the heat that is caused from high performance driving. I have heard of some exploding diffs from the "conversion" units. Again, this is not first hand accounts, only what I have seen/heard. I would save up to get a real lsd instead. In my Si I have a JDM Type R lsd and I have really enjoyed it, it doesn't have as much lock up as quick as the quaife/spoon/kaaz/mugen diffs but still a really good diff for the money it cost me.(330 with shipping from Japan and 100 for a type r ring gear and pinion to make it work in my tranny) Good luck and provide a few more specifics about what you are wanting to do and what you are wanting to do it in, I may be able to be more helpful if I know the specifics.
It would be installed in a 96 eclipse gst.
