hood pins help

Im trying to decide on wether i should go with the hood pins or the key locks. I bought a nopi number 1 hood and it says to use hood pins, but I would like to know if anyone has one of these and doesnt use hood pins does ur hood flap alot? also how hard would it be to do i've read some of the other post on this but is masking tape and a drill all I need, or would it be better if I just took it to a body shop. and if I did take it to a body shop were would be the best one to go in the gwinnett area for this kind of work.

just my but i would definately go with the locking ones, and personally even though i like to do all my own work, id rather spend a couple extra bucks and take it to a body shop then drill a hole in the like $500 hood i just bought

Yea thats kinda the way I was thinking of going they look cleaner. I still need to find a decent body shop that can do it with out ruining it.

diy it isnt hard i just put grease on the tip of my hoodpins.

im on my 2nd set of sparco hoodpins and they work great. The locking one look cool but ive heard complaints about them. if u want to use the sparco one that dnt have a key lock, keep ur hood latch on there so u dnt have to worry about nebody just popping ur hood like i use to. i havent put my new ones on yet and the latch has been tested up to 140 mph.

i dnt reccomend u trying this though, my windshield is already beat to hell so i dnt have nun to loose except another hood. lol!!

i helped my buddy do his, just use a drill in the hood and you are good to go. Im about to help my bro do his too.

havent heard of the locking ones flying up but ppl complain about how they do suck. its hard 4 me to explain how they suck through typing but the lock can start spinning and u cant get it to work right sometimes.

are they real sparcos bc mine never rusted? I chose sparcos bc they are a better brand, ive used them b4 and i havent heard ne complaints about them. they were pretty easy to install but still scared me drilling my hood. Just my on the subject. Good luck

i say locking one's. i've had mine for years and installed a set on an i.l. members car too. i don't know what btec talks about spinning unless maybe people are installing or tightening them properly. you do need to bend the pins forward so they match the contour of the hood and meet perpendicular to the actual hood for the proper latching.

you'll need:
masking tape to keep the glass from cracking.
grease for the top of the pin to mark the hood on where to drill from the underside.
large drill bit.
dremel w/ sanding drum to enlarge the hole.
deep well socket or some good needle nose pliers to tighten the nut to hold the cylinders to the hood.
patience.

a shop will charge you quite a bit to do it.

oh yeah, mine are good to 130mph so far.

Thanks alot for all the information and help guys. I think Im going to try the locking ones first . Ill just take my chances because they seem more incognito. I would prefer to go without anything but I also like my windshield....
