Default auto to manual swap worth the trouble?

    hey guys

i currently have an auto civic, but i would really like to get a manual.

i personally wouldnt mind doing the swap, as instructions are all over the internet.

my question is, would i be better off just getting another car? i have already devoted a lot of time fixing things up on it, and i feel selling it and starting over would be a big waste.

also parts are kinda hard to acquire

    any input?

I've been considering doing the same thing myself for a few months now. From all of the people I've talked to (message boards, shops, etc) It's really up to the person. If you want a new car that bad, then go for it, however, if you are into keeping your current car around, might as well add something you really like. I'm going for it by the end of summer.

i did an auto to manual swap no problem. i had never even changed the oil in my car when i did my swap and it with off without a hitch. just research it and take your time and youll be ok. no cutting, no welding, everything went together just fine.

It will just take time. Putting in a clutch pedal, master brake cylinder, clutch cylinder, running new steel lines for everything. You want to make sure you do everything right and only once. ITs a pain to take everything a part again. My friend did a manual conversion on his 240sx. Took him about 2 weeks of free time.

    Deffinately worth the trouble.

Great thing about Hondas, all the pedals just bolt right in. One of the easiest swaps I have ever done.

i got all the parts to do the conversions.....and the best way to do it and make it worth it is buy doing an upgrade, a B18 or B16, that way u have everything in the swap, all u need is the 5 speed conversion parts

Conversion is expensive, unless you really value your car you should just sell it and buy a manual.

B series transmission conversions aren't that "expensive"... you can get away with a manual conv. for under 1100 easy. And most of that is the transmission.

If you're swapping to a cable tranny, then it's a piece of cake.

    Hydraulic conv:
    1) Lines for your model car
    2) Transmission
    3) Slave cylinder
    4) Master Cylinder
    5) Reservoir
    6) Clutch Pedal assembly
    7) 5spd brake pedal

    Cable conversion:
    1) Cable Transmission
    2) Clutch Pedal assembly
    3) Cable itself
    4) 5spd brake pedal

It's late and i might be forgetting some stuff. But a list this easy to find and short as this; should go to show just how easy and worthwhile this swap is.
