is the vtec the only reason the check light is on? and if your using a thick oil or have to much oil you may not beable to hear it. if thats not the only reason the lights on do this.......

go sit in your passenger seat, reach up under the dash above the ecu and pull out the 2 wires (probably wrapped in green with blue clips). take the one with only 2 wires, take a paper clip and stick one end in one, and the other end on the other. watch your check engine light, it will flash some codes, its the lights stays on for a second, then blinks 3 times, that means 13. stays on for a second, goes out, stays on another second, then blinks 7 stimes, thats 27. just tell me whats codes it flashes and i got a paper, that i can tell you whats it is and how it can be fixed. if its giving you a bunch of codes open the fuse box and remove the back up fuse (7.5amp) then drive it for a few mins and check agian. when checking the codes make sure the paper clip stays in the whole time, until you see a code more than once.
