Pump gas has a lower octane rating. The higher the octane, the more resistance to knock.

On a motor that is strung out already like an s2k you don't need incredibly high octane to get big numbers. The motor has high compression and on most of those turbo setups that don't lower the compression the turbo is smaller and it works out.
