I'm running a Tremec 3550 in my turbo notchback. Its pretty rugged and a few have run high 9 second passes with them. I'd say its good to 600 rwhp or so...the weak link is the output/input shafts. They are the same size as the T5 but the internals are beefier. The TKO uses a chevy 26 spline input and bigger output shaft. If you are going to buy a new transmission i would recommend a TKO. They have the TKO-500 and 600 now but i have heard they are kind of notchy compared to a regular TKO.Originally Posted by David88vert
If you have the extra money the T56 is a nice swap but its pretty damn heavy and isn't that much stronger then a TKO unless you get the viper spec T56 which is 4,000 bucks. If you aren't making more then 500 rwhp and don't plan to make more i'd try to pick up a 3550 and bellhousing. Mine has had no issues handling 500 rwhp.
