I agree, I used my bike as 99% of my transportation but having the car certainly helped alot. You will always need to carry groceries, or something and you can't do that on a bike. Like David said, riding in the rain sucks and is a lot more dangerous. Bikes as sole transportation suck. David, I'll try to pull my bike out today and get some pics of it and email them to you.

get a car
and a gixxer 600 prolly wont be a good first bike, get a gs500

I'll echo the same sentiments about a bike being 100% transportation for you.
It sucks. Riding in bad weather sucks. Gas milage is great. Sunny days it's great. Heat on a cold day is better, glass and metal on a rainy day is much better too.
Not a good idea IMO. I had a cousin who did that and he regreted it when winter came. Trust me, get a beater and a bike.

If your looking for a cheap bike that will provide good transportation back and forth and use for your main ride you might want to look into a sport tour bike. I have a 98 Kantana 600. Perfect starter bike and definatly wont outgrow it. It is very fun and very comfortable. Everyone who owns a bike sits on mine and fall in love with it. PM if you wanna check it out in person im in the roswell area. No rides though u can sit on it lol.
