Default N20 on a 2002 civic si (k20a3) anyone with experience with n20?

not sure where nitrous questoins go...

so, i'm tossing back and forth sc and turbo... and i think about nitrous

i'm not wanting to get a lot of power. i was thinkign about doing the greddy turbo kit which only gives me 50 more whp... and thats like 2,500 bux... so who has some good knowledge on nitrous?

to you guys that KNOW nitrous, do you do a NA type build? and whats the best type and brand of nitrous out there... and whats safe to run?

feel free to say whatever your opinion on the topic is as well if ya want

    thanks,
    kyle

In my opinion & personal experience: I spun a bearing a few months ago on my stock B16 when it detonated from running too big a shot of nitrous on stock fuel pump (too often). Some people ask why I have this "obscession" with nitrous but I just say because it's alot cheaper than BOOST & you still get a good amount of power. I'm currently using the Zex Dry Kit, a buddy of mine says he has used NOS, NX.. & says Zex hits the hardest (I personally woundn't know). A few tips if you use nitrous, make sure you get colder plugs, make sure you always have enough fuel by upgrading fuel pump/injectors & a good tune! If you have the money a direct port nitrous would be the best to get, than the Wet Nitrous , then Dry

I was thinking at most a 75, and even that on rare occasion, most likely a 50... but who makes direct port? what dioes it take to install it?... i see NX makes a kit that replaces the whole fuel rail. is that good? heh ive enver even dealt or given nitrous searious thought so i onmly know very little. also what kind of build do you do for the motor? i'm wanting to replace a few simple things like cams and such.. mot likely no pistons or rods. do you build it like a n/a car?

Look, any kit can hit hard as long as you tune it right. If you want it done and done right PM me and I will give ya my number.

BTW nitrous express is the worst kit to have

Everyone makes Dirct Port, instead of spraying nitrous through 1 line into the intake pipe. There are 4 different nitrous injectors drilled into your intake manifold & sprays which is more efficient because each cylinder is getting the exact same amount of nitrous, unlike dry & wet. Wet kits will spray a mix of fuel & nitrous at the same time into the intake

Search Ebay mane, they have everything (just make sure you buy from someone respectable). Direct Ports are about $600, purge kits around $100. I wish I could get a direct port so bad !

Ok ..I have had nitrous in my last 4 or 5 cars. I have used/dynoed most of the kits out there so ill throw in my 2 cent. First off i have to say , every zex dry kit i have put on a car has run lean. I have seen 3 cars all had the kits installed right ......Every time we would go to tune it and end up with the 75fuel and 55nitrous{yea dry kits have a fuel jet}and still run lean on the dyno. Now i got a NOS dry kit and put it on my old lude, went off to the dyno with a hand full of jets for tuning. I had it jetted for a 55 shot and stock fuel system. First pull it put down a 40hp and 60tq with a VERY safe air fuel . I used the kit for a year no problems! I also have had 4 or 5 n/x kits . They work VERY well if you are carefull and know what you are doing. People say wet kits cause nitrous back fires...Well i used to launch my old 97 civic with it armed , it even fell to like 2k 1 time! Never had a problem . Just dont arm it and try doing burnouts or spinning tires . Thatll cause it to pool and boom! I have also had the n/x kit on the dyno and got 50hp and 65tq out of a 55 shot to the wheels! I say start with a good dry kit HAVE IT TUNED and have fun for a while . As long as the air fuel are ok youll have a lot of fun with it .....A really good all motor build with a large shot of nitrous is deadly on the track.....No lag at all with gobs of torque...Anymore questions just ask..If you need help putting it in ill help you ...Dont pay anyone..

i was really thinking about doing a direct port, simply because its safest. what can i use to tune my motor though(k20a3)? do i need something as strong as K-pro?

Direct Port is safest and is able to spray alot more nitrous then Dry/Wet kits. Dry/Wet = 35-75 Shot safely while Direct Port is supposed to spray up to 200 Shot. But I wouldn't recommend spraying anything higher than a 75 on stock motor

No but {hondata} k-pro will help your car a LOT . It will make shure you get the best hp out of your boltons and tune your nitrous . Dont see how you could go wrong there. I know it isnt cheap but it will be one of the best things you can get for your car . It will also make the nitrous run a better air fuel.. But you can get a d/p kit and tune it with jets but you wont get as good of a tune.

I dont like ZEX kits, i prefer NOS.

I like WEt Kits, not Dry.

I dont think you NEED KPRO, i think you need a VAFC and a FPR if you stay within a 50-75 shot.

anything more than that, it would be nice to pull timing out via KPRO.

Wow, there's a TON of mis-information going on in here.

Mostly find the "Nitrous Express is the worst kit to have" statement one of the dumbest things I've heard.

Direct port isn't the safest. Its alittle more dangerous than all the kits mostly because they require more fuel to be mixed in with the nitrous and without major upgrading you can easily have yourself a blown mani or worst a blown motor. Direct port systems are mostly used on 4cyl engines for spraying bigger numbers and because its "safer" to spray those big numbers straight into the intake runners than through the one intake tube and through the TB. If everything is upgraded accordingly and you don't get crazy with the jetting this does become the safest kit.

Nitrous EXpress, NOS, Edlebrock, Nitrous Works, etc etc are all your standard car nut nitrous kits. NX and Edlebrock have been known to sell the highest quality solenoids present day since say, 02-03. NOS has always been a leader until then.

Zex is mainly for your beginners who want everything as easy and ergonomic as possible. Don't get me wrong Zex now does have systems that get pretty complex but they grew on making a simple easy to install kit for your everyday customer.

No kit hits harder than another kit. That's all based upon bottle pressure, solenoid flow size, and jetting. NOTHING else.

Wet kits are liked more than other kits because once you "T" off the fuel line you don't have to worry about anything else fuel wise (smaller shots) besides having adequate fuel pressure through that line.

Dry kits, you usually have to clean your entire fuel system or upgrade fuel pumps and injectors to make sure everything will work correctly. Most people blow motors from the nitrous kit leaning out over not enough fuel being delivered to a disfunctional "stock" pump or clogged injectors.

Easiest ways to tune a nitrous system would be to know your fuel pressure and to make sure it stays in optimal range, Wideband a/f gauge, and whatever equipment you would like to use to pull 1-2 degrees of timing while spraying. 50shot pulling timing isn't neccesary but 75-100+ it is crucial. I'm not up to date on what evices are out for imports such as honda's to make that whole process easier but this K-pro thing is sounding pretty good. I myself use a MSD DIS-2 Programmable which takes timing as the nitrous goes in.

    methanol injection > nitrous injection

    =]

although they're two completely different concepts... still a type of injection.

thanks for throwing in your opinion, but it wasnt very helpful, my civic has low miles, its safe, and i love the lines... these companies make universal kits deisgned to fit EVERY 4 cylinder. who are you to decide if my car is worthy, anyways back on topic..

So, between NOS, NX, and edelbrock for the most part, which kits have the best solenoids and quality parts? or are they all about the same? do any of them have anything special about their kits? i didnt find any noticeable difference but since i'm new to nitrous theres a chance i missed something.

    LOL what an idiot.

I know about 5 people with built Nitrous Hondas that would make you regret opening your mouth.

I know a guy taht was running open line on a STOCK GSR 3 years ago running 12.1s.

Hell Jeffrey i think was runnin 12.5s on a stock LS motor with a 250shot.

so you would reccomend turboing AND nitrous on a Stock K series, your an idiot. Thats a recipe for FAILURE.

Damn, 12.5 on a 250. I'm hoping for mid-high 12s with just a 150shot and better traction. Crazy that you all can run all that nitrous on stock cars. My motor would blow at a 75 with no attention put into it timing wise.

Just do a wet system, there is no point in spending alot of money or time for a direct port system when you will only be doing a 50 shot.

If anf1tch21 keeps posting ignorant comments like this I'm going to start looking into another kind of injection... lethal injection
