there are a few other members on here with them. If I get this one though it will be just a Daily driver for now, although eventually I want to turn it into a budget build up. Dunno, never owned a rwd car before, so I'm considering trying drifting it just for the hell of it...I dunno, we'll see. What's done to yours?

    i just bought it...3" exhaust...3" downpipe...k&n intake...weight reduction...takin the engine apart over the break to clean, port and polish everything...depending on that...if i'm liking how it's going cuz it's a 2.6 L...i'll keep it...worse comes to worse i'll just swap a 4G63

drifting huh...i was thinking the same thing because no one uses a starion...and it has a pretty even weight distribution...but then i said naw...although i'm a really good at drifting...i don't want to tear it up cuz i love it like :idb:

there was a guy that was sliding his for the past few years with USDrift. he blew the G54b quickly and threw in a 4G63 swap and it ran much better. weight distribution isn't too bad, but the steering sucks. between the crappy steering box and the bushings in the steering column that like to go bad they are just sloppy. and the driveline pretty much sucks too, other than the diff itself, which is actually relatively tough.

    oh, former owner here btw.

There are actually quite alot of starion/conquests around here.

My neighbor has the cleanest conquest I have ever seen. Pale yellow fully restored perfect everything.

I talked to him a couple days ago about it. He said he bought a gvr4 off the showroom and regreats selling it. lol. He'll probably steal parts off my car one day.

Oh and nice wheels Erin. Are those GNX ripoffs with crazy offset?

Turbonetics T4/60-1 on modified stock exhaust manifold, i later upgraded to an SFP header and Garrett T3/60-1 turbo since that crappy turbonetics T4 blew twice.

the original setup when i built it: stock block bored .040" over, wiseco forged pistons, shotpeened/balanced stock rods, crank cleaned/balanced, Marnal aftermarket head casting w/stock valves, dual valvesprings (stock ones float easily), TimC screamin bansee cam, adjustable cam gear, arp studs throughout the engine, metal headgasket... all the good shit i could find at the time.

biggest hurdle was the MPFI manifold i bought for the car, unfortunately it was a "prototype" version and the guy's welding skills were sub-par. i eventually sealed all the air/water leaks with expoxy but i'd recommend getting the stock MPFI manifold that everyone uses off an australian car with the G54b motor in it.

an autometer boost gauge fits nicely when you remove the stock POS gauge from the cluster. (yes i had a monster tach in the car, stock gauge would not operate with the standalone EMS in the car)

as for tips about the car itself....

    1. steering bushing in the column goes bad quickly (assuming it hasn't already) and leaves 180* rotation side to side before you even begin to turn the car.... VERY dangerous. either buy one of the overpriced new bushings or follow the instructions on SQC (i know i did a writeup a long time ago about it, my username was Superquest_T61) on how to fill with epoxy.

    2. with most of the quests i've been under, the chassis bushings are gone (see a trend yet?). apparently mitsu used crappy rubber for all that stuff. there are replacements out there, but i can't remember where to get all of them.

    3. i highly recommend buying a short throw shifter setup, the bushing in mine was dead and sloppy as hell to drive.

    4. replace all of the seals on the stock injection if you plan on keeping it, they tend to leak gas everywhere. at the same time replace the injector clips, they are a huge source of headaches with those cars and a cheap tuneup item.

    5. the stock turbo is better suited as a paperweight. i'd recommend a Big16G or maybe even an 18G upgrade if you want the car to break 200whp. the 12A is a turd.

    6. no matter what people say, don't swap the hydro lifters for the mechanical ones, unless you like noisy valvetrain and having to adjust all the damn time. if you want revs, get a 4G63.
