    Default emissions help...

took my 91 MR2 for emissions today and failed awfully...

for the 25/25 test i got 224 with an allowed 132 for "HC ppm"
5.36 with an allowed 0.73 for "CO %"

for the 50/15 test i got 232 with an allowed 136 for "HC ppm"
5.16 with an allowed .76 for "CO %"

...this is all running on a j-spec 3SGTE, 3 inch exhaust and a walbro 255 fuel pump. i'm assuming from the numbers and smell that i'm running quite a rich fuel mixture. could it be as simple as just turning down the pressure of my fuel pressure regulator? if so, how many psi do i need to set it at? right now its reading 15 psi at idle and somewhere around 17-20 when in mid RPM's

any ideas?? could it be from not enough air?? the car has gotten only about 60-70 miles since april, i've driven it back and fourth to school the past couple days and i drove it 30 miles (gainesville->lawrenceville) before the test today.

shiz dude neither do i, i would say watch your fuel, and see if that other cat is gutted... if it is, run to a junkyard and see if you can find a good one.

If your cat was gutted you could simply look inside and see that it's empty :-)

Well assuming you are not mechanically inclined then I'd have to say that all you need to do is get some jack stands for the front of your car, unbolt the cat and header, grab your flashlight and look inside. Will take you less time to do that then it did to make that childish remark.

    emmmmmmmmm
    arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrre
    toooooooooooo

stands for Mid engine, Rwd, 2wd...its not as easy as just dropping down the cat and taking a glance inside. with everything in i can hardly see it and just barely touch it with a finger...much less knock on it, look for cuts/welds, or unbolt it real quick and take a glance inside.

    haha

jdm=no egr, no carbon can and oh yea NO EMISSIONS CRAP
    sorry had to

yes an unplugged 02 sensor will make your car run insanely rich
I assume you didnt do this swap.

If you still dont pass, which you probably wont get a new cat and a fpr. lean it out as much as you feel safe to do. THIS IS TEMPORARY FOR EMISSIONS ONLY. do not drive alot with low fp and definitely hard. other than that ur not gonna pass without emissions equipment.
