    Default Steering wheel shaking

Alright, when im driving my steering wheel goes side to side like if its shaking, and once i start going past 60mph it gets a lot worse. Also everytime when i hit a pot hole or where the road is bad it shakes really bad, right now thats the only way i can explain it. Anyone know what it could be? im thinking maybe a bad tie rod? btw this is a 96 civic hatchback

if it only does it at certain speeds the tires are off balance of have a flat spot in them. if it's constant 0-90mph then it's something else.

Wheel/tire balance, Alignment, steering, suspension components... Could be a numerous of things..

Check your Balance on wheels/tires first.. then go down the line...

tire balance, then alignment, if it shakes when you brake also; you have a warped rotor.

tire would case a shake in the wheel while normal driving. rotors on the other hand will not atleast until he hits the brakes. at that poin it will cause a shake in the wheel.

Yeah start with the tires first. On top of just balancing them. Check for seperation in the tire. They will tend to do that this time of year with the weather heating up. And if you are making a habit of hitting pot holes make sure you dont have a knot in your tire or a bent wheel. Good luck.
