or you can use acetone...I hear it works great. The way it goes...you gotta grab a couple bottles of acetone and then take off the cap and pour it over anything you want to clean.

I did this to my car, and I was dumbfounded. It was the cleanest I've ever seen it in my life. You should try it.

Acetone is also very, very flammable at low temperatures.
This is probably the worst idea I've ever heard in my life.

I use simple green. Just spray allover your engine before you wash your car. After you wash your car spray down the engine bay with a water hose or spray gun at your local car wash. Follow that process the next few times you wash your car. After that it should be pretty clean. It will take two or three times to get most of the grit and grime out. Now if you are anal you can go the extra mile and get DP Engine Degreaser with a medium bristle brush and a that will really clean up that engine to bling bling status.............
