Seafoam

Although I know Seafoam is a great product (as I have used it myself) I do wonder for the higher mileage cars, is it better or worse? I know am aware no one has created a peliminary report on it. Is it safe to use on a motor that has, say.. 150k miles or so without actually "over-cleaning" your motor? Or even a factory-turbo motor? To note: mine has 181k.

I wonder this because I am about to purchase another car and I like to create a "fresh" as possible start this time, since I have the means to do so, so that the life of this car is as long as possible. I just dont want to overdo it, if there is such a thing. Plugs/wires/oilchange/coolant flush-fill/timing belt change (water pump, but I've learned that u shouldnt change somethings that dont leak, do others go against that idea?)

This is in all seriousness because I admire a well maintained high-mileage car. This jewel came with 181k on the odo. No smoke, runs quiet, even has factory working A/C

with those kinda miles it should be ok but something around 170k+ it may harm it more than help IMO

I wouldn't seafoam it. And if it don't leak don't replace it. Seafoaming one the correct way can actually cause more blowby by removing buildup that was previously stopping some. If you are talking about the DSM you are buying you definitely do not want more blowby. Dipsticks are hard enough to keep in place already. LOL

i have used seafoam on several car with mileage over 150k...like my sister 02 honda accord lx with about 200k plus the car has never had any big trouble and been across the US 2x now and she planning to drive it back here from cali....also used it on my wife integra with a little over 170k....never had any problems with leaks smoke etc....its all in the mind lol...

i use seafoam alot. i just always use lucas fuel treatment cause the seafoam will dry up the cyl wall alittle and the lucas will lubricate the cyl walls very well

i would not seafoam and high mileage car. unless it has had been seafoamed in its preventive maintenance before. at a 150k all that gunk and shit is pretty much whats holding the motor together.

My car, a 96 Nissan Maxima, has 167,000 and I seafoamed it at like 165,000 and my throttle response seemed to improve, and it was more peppy. Nothing bad has happened to my engine at all. Its running strong. The only leak I have is a small valve cover gasket leak and that was there before the seafoaming. No ill effects at all. I would do it.

I have used seafoam for years, and on lots of cars with over 200k. I just did a V10 Excursion the other weak, made a huge difference in the way it ran, it had 225k. I've done my E30, over 200k, my old CRX motor, over 200k, my integra, over 200k, and so on. I have never heard of seafoam hurting an engine (besides internet gossip), ever.

Well I have the car now, I more importantly need to change the timing belt, its showing CRACKS and those ghetto spark plugs. But thanks for the info/input. I normally wouldnt care about seafoaming anything at anytime, but this is an all-stock non-riced complete car and I dont want to do it wrong and fuk it up.

I have no leaks at all, period, no oil on the oil pan, valve cover or turbo oil coolant lines. I more just wondering if I should use it for the fuel and intake to push some of that crude out.

i would. i have always heard good things from ppl in person who used seafoam. never any bad things. Im gonna be seafoaming my own car here soon

i seafoamed my factory turbo car and it idled smoother. No problems to report. I hooked up a system where i can just quickly suck the seafoam up into the throttle bodies in a few seconds

i just did my 90K mile stang will no ill results. i just had a friend hold a vacuum line in the bottle until it sucked about 1/3 of the can in the intake.

they also make it in a spray can now.

we already did lol. me and josh smoked up the dorm parking lot a couple years back. We had many parties in the school parking lot including transmission drops, plenum pulls, etc.

ive done it twice to my 93 civic, it has somewhere over 240000 miles. no leaks or smoke before or after it was done. usually do it about once a year, 1 bottle in the gas, and half a bottle in the intake line, and i cant remember how much in the oil for around 50-100 miles.

I did it in my boosted Lude (168k) but I poured it in a full tank of gas so it was very slow.
