    I don't see lots of R6 owners posting that they need vavles on the R6 forum, so it's not too common.
    It could be a legit problem, or not. If it is, it's expensive, and yes, another motor should be cheaper - but you also don't know that the new motor won't have the same issues.
    R1 and R6 is completely different engines...... And they did have a problem , but not saying it was a recall but did have a issue....Most likely the other owner either beat the shit out of it , and maybe rode it so rough it was starving for oil , or drained the oil and rode with no oil, what ever the case is.....What is done is done nothing he can do but fix it....Making calls is not going to get his bike fixed....

    Same thought i had....... most likely caused by a oil issue from user error
    . I think hes luckey..A loy of people would have over looked the problem...

    Calling shops to check can tell him the likelyhood of the mechanic telling the truth. There are a lot of shady people out there. Not saying that the person that he took it to is shady, but what harm is it to get a second opinion? If your doctor was telling you that you needed an expensive surgery to replace your lung, would you get a second opinion? Personally, I would at least do some research if I wasn't 100% sure that he was correct already. That's all I am saying.
