I have an SFI certified quick release. That means it has been through rigorous testing to make sure that it performs properly. That means that it WILL release when it is supposed, but NOT release when it decides to not work anymore. You would be better to leave the factory installed nut on the steering wheel IMO. Nothing like going into a tight turn and you pull slightly on the steering wheel without even thinking about it and POP, it is in your hands, but not connected to the steering shaft anymore and you are in a ditch, other car, tree, eventually casket or whatever.
