If the sensor is right below the intake manifold it was the Knock Sensor.That probably isnt the issue. If you have white smoke sounds like coolant possibly. Did you make sure you hooked up the vac lines correctly and did not put a coolant hose onto a vacuum fitting? Blinking check engine light means there is a hard misfire going on. Recheck connections and if you are not sure you may need to get someone experienced to look at it with you because a coolant bypass hose to the intake can cause BIG issues.
