Default b18b1 swap question in a 91 prelude.

So Im getting a b18b1 swap wednesday.
Will it go in my 91 prelude si.
Im replacing the b20a5 with it because quiet frankly this whole b20a5 shit sucks and I found out the head is probably cracked, Thus causing my car not to be able to be my daily driver so Now Im wanting to build it a bit and you know...Lets facee It b20a5 parts dont seem to be common.

I NEED A HONDA TECH's or someone who knows this will work before I do it.

And will it bolt up to the b20a5 tranny,Or Will I have to get another tranny please guys let me know asap ,Its my first time doing a swap , I have someone who is a professional mechanic but they mainly have worked on domestic so im trying to make sure this is gonna work before I have him a big mess.

    Will be appreciated

^^ Agreed. I've owned two of these and done alot of work on them. B20a5(USDM version) and B20a(JDM version) are both not really in the B-series family. Most parts are not interchangable. I have seen GSR/B20v swaps in them but I don't believe anywhere makes a swap kit. In order meaning that you would have alot of custom fabrication in your future if you decide to follow through with the build. I would say completely rebuild your motor and if you're wanting more power to just through together a custom turbo setup. If you're wanting more power without boost, I know people have used bike carbs to custom do ITB's. Also, if you can locate a DC sports header, DO NOT hesitate to buy it. They're discoutinued and hard to get your hands on. So, just keep all that in mind.

Thanks for the info, Ok ,Well Answer me this question then to save me possibly alot of time and effort , Ok My grandpa who is pretty much my mechanic, thinks I blew the head Or the head was blown when I got it ,See its over heating,It will get hot ,Go down, Get hot Stay for A sec, Get hot again...And Sometimes it dont even get hot. There is NO WATER in the oil what so ever and that generally means it isnt the head, I mean When I release like my gas cap or my radiator cap ,alot of air pressure is released.

you need to flush the radiator, put new fluid in and let the car idle with the rad. cap off, this allows the car to essentially burp itself, letting the trapped air escape. this may fix your problem.

this same problem happened to me on two different cars

Try this, those little air bubbles get in the cooling system and that's why it gets hot and cool off.....then gets hot again. Some cars have inline valves you can open, if not just do like he said above and remove the radiator cap.

well if you have pressure in the cooling system while it not warmed up could be a blown head gasket. but like stated above if your cooling system has a air pocket you will get the hot and cold with the temp guage.

why would swap in a ls motorif your motor makes more torque stock? imo, just rebuild the si motor and call it a day. does it have 4ws?
