Bring it back to the shop and get a compression test may have a bent valve or really bad valve seals

Yep its probably gonna be easier and cheaper to get a used block than to try to fix all that in the long run...is it auto or manual? If you decide to sell it hit me up

You wouldn't get a whole hell of a lot selling it imo; my .02: get a good d or b swap and drive it until you can scrap up funds for a respectable ride, or get it fixed, the right mechanic will know what's wrong. GL man

yea missfire will cause a gas smell. fix your spark issue 1st. but if you keep on turning it over your just dumping gas in say bye bye rings
