    Default eclipse gst questions

    hey all..

i have a 96 eclipse gsT and it recently started having problems with the tranny..

it wont go into 2nd 4th or reverse .. reverse at all it just slides back out.. and as far as 2nd and forth i can sometimes get them to go in.. i have a little bit of knowledge but not enough .. im going to get it inspected tomorrow but i jus wanted to get others input.. if i had to guess id say it was the syncros because its all the lower gears.. someone also told me it is the push pull linkage and it might be a clip or something rigged up that might be coming out... but i looked at the linkage( from what i could see) it didnt look like anything was undone..

i hope i can get it fixed any feed back would be muchly appreciated..

i will post updated info tomorrow if i find out what it is.. if it ends up being the tranny i will be sellin the car... i know it might sound retarded but ive had my fair share with tranny issues and i just dont wanna mess with anymore.. thanks guys!

That sounds like a linkage problem. 2nd 4th and reverse are all on different synchros (well no synchro for reverse) but its all in the shifter pull. Inspect the linkages on the trans and the bracket there as well. Also check the shifter area there are adjustments that can be made to the cable. There is also the possiblity of a broken cable

lol ya.. well i went to aamco and you were right.. which i already figured it was a problem with the linkage.. one of the clips for the linkage was off it came off i guess from vibration.. and they replaced it for me $95 later.. because they charged me an hour for labor.. i know its a rip off but at least its fixed..
