    Default Main Relay Question

    95 civic coupe d15

    my car will not start, i cant hear the fuel pump turn on when i turn the ign on..

    motor is turning over, jus no fuel

    no click after the check engine light goes off, in fact the cel stays on..

    anyone have an idea on this?

    could this be the main relay?

    bout to go jump the main relay to see if the fuel pump turns on

    isnt a solid cel an indication of bad ecu? if not most all main relay's are the same internally for 88-00 or so...the only difference is how they mount so hit a junk yard and snag one from any honda you see.

    okay ill check... yeah def getting the solid cel light, it doesnt turn off, and the fuel pump did kick on when i jumped it....

    its said the car should start right up, it still didnt, so that may explain it.

    can anyone else verify this???

    take the main relay out, its under the dash on driverside
    its a gray box... take the cover off, and hit a solider gun on it and re try plugging it up... If you want to bring the relay to me i can fix it, I also have one if you need ....

    i know what im doing here lol

    took it off, jumped it to run voltage to the fuel pump, pump works fine.


    STILL GETTING THE SOLID CHECK ENGINE LIGHT!!!!

    BAD ECU CORRECT?

    Swap the main relay out with another and see what that does. The relay works a good bit of things jumping the relay to get the pump working just wont tell if its good or bad most the time. Also see if you have fire at the plugs and Distributor.

    You're ecu has nothing to do with this issue.... You're cel might be a code , jump the 2 pin connector on the pass,side and count the blinks, 3 fast blinks would be 3 2 slowblinks would be 20
    so if you are getting a 2 slow blinks, then a pause then 5 fast blinks and then it repeats it again you're code is 25

    damn, i thought he was saying that the cel would not go off or blink with the plug jumpered....yea if its on solid without the jumper in the plug behind your glovebox then its just saying it has a code stored.

    I think he means it will not go off while driving , and when he shuts it off the light comes back on and stays on...Unless I read something else

    OKAY GUYS YALL ARE KILLING MEEEEEEE.... lets stop OVERanalyzing this....

    key in the ign, car turned off, i get a solid cel, that will not shut off...

    i fucking cleared the codes by the pos and neg terminal cables, so i cant check the code by jumping the wires on the pass side already fuckin tried... it was running fine (idling in the driveway) and it shut off, would not crank back up and fuel pump was not making any noise, i jumped the main relay for the pump, pump turned on.. haynes manual says the car should crank when jumped, car did not not crank...

    i will check for spark right now...

    now how can i verify that the ecu is bad?? and or what else could the issue be?

    You need a NEW ecu then. and fuking stop fuking in the thread OK!

    And you need a NEW main relay end of story

    Sounds like a main relay problem , but the ecu is a problem if the light is on when the key is off and I have one if needed also and a relay

    Go get a new one or used one from junk yard or hell a buddy might have one a main relay and try that first. Also when you turn the key in the on position if the relay doesn't click and no fuel pump noise..... usually means relay is bad. I know ECU can go bad but first start at Main relay.
