    Thumbs down Broken Differential. Why?.... pics inside

    I believe the trans code is s4c. Hydro trans. out of a 99 civic si. It shifts fine, no grinds, no noise.. I heard some grinding noise one day about 5 months ago but it went away so I didn't think much of it after that.

    I pulled the trans to do a clutch job and noticed metal chucks behind one of the axle seals. Tore trans apart and found this.







    In these pics you can see where pieces of metal have gouged the case and the ribs are broken off.




    What would cause this? Why would those 2 gears strip like that? This is a daily driver, never been to the track and it's been driving perfectly.
    Oh, and anyone got a spare stock diff they want to sell?

    Just talked to someone at Mainstream. They just happened to have an extra diff they're going to ship me today.. SWEET!
