    Default PONTIAC FIERO HELP

    yeah i found a pontiac fiero for dirt cheap, an '87, and the guy said the timing gear went out, how hard is this to replace? i have only worked mostly on imports so any info on this motor/car would be appreciated. is it worth sinking money and/or time into? it has 218k miles on it.

    im assuming its a v6.... its not that bad really.

    id pull the whole motor out. and do it that way.

    the whole motor and tranny come out from underneath.

    you will need a engine hoist and two ramps.

    there are 4 bolts that hold the rear subframe (cradle).

    motor and tranny and suspension are all attached to the cradle.

    there is a tourque strap on the top called a dog bone mount that must be romoved.

    other than clutch line, ebrake cable, rear brake lines, two fuel lines, harness (one plug), throttle cable, shift linkage, two coolant lines, and a few vac lines the motor and tranny are out.

    about 4 hours out and 1.5 hours back in.... seriously just did this last weekend


    but i put in a supercharged 3800 in the 6cyl place.


    if the cars in clean shape its worth 2500 to 3 gs max. depending on the milage.


    there are alot of people that like these cars. and it could sell quick depending on if you can find a buyer
