Default looking at car, question about transmission

i am looking at getting a 1989 prelude si
    its a 5speed
    perfect cosmetic condition
    perfect interior,
    still starts
but he says car wont go into 2nd and 5th gear
    idk what would cause this
and could i get that fixed or would i have to buy a new tranny?
just basically wondering if anyone could diagnose the problem or not....

also the car has under 200,000
    and he only wants $800
    good deal??

sounds like a good deal but the tranny get a new one cause fixing it is to much work the syncros probably went completely out in it so yea new tranny fuck fixing the old one itll be way more costly. GL but make sure thats the only thing thats wrong cause 800 is pretty cheap.

EDIT: never mind 800 is good i didnt see it was a 1989 thought it was 99

800 is fine i would look into rebuilding or reman tranny. the odd of u finding that tranny used in a good condition well low. your better off spending some money if its a car u plan on keeping. rebuild the tranny or get a remaned.
