e30 gauge cluster not working.

Ok so when I bought my E30 the speedometer worked aboug 40% of the time at best. It got to where it wouldn't work at all and now off of the gauges quit working. When I first crank it the tach and the fuel economy gauge work for just a second but quit right away.

I've read about a common problem with E30s where some battery behind the dash after time starts leaking acid and fries some of the wires. I looked under the dash at all the wires and from what I can tell there isn't any acid.

Anybody had this problem before and have any solutions or input? Reps to all and if it helps its a 1986 325e

I've never tried to repair the cluster on my e30 but I have replaced them as it was cheaper/easier for me. Here are some links I had saved that may help!

if your odo ever quites pelican parts sells a repair kit for like $12.00 just for fyi.

My speedo works, tach works most of the time, sometimes it randomly stops but a smack on the dash fixes that.
