    Default Attn KNowlegdable honda folks

this guy is claimin to own this car ( its a del sol with a g35 conversion....)....anyway he says he bought the car and swapped in a h22.....and said he passed emissions...wouldnt it be impossible to even pass emissions cause the h22 is a obd 1 motor and the del sol is obd 2? i dont much about the classifications, thats why im asking.

theres a obd2 h22 also and some of the del sols are obd1, but i guess this one is newer than a 95
but if the motor is obd1 and the car is obd2, then no, he definitly would not pass emissions

if its an OBD1 Del SOl and he got an OBD1 H22 then the car CAN PASS
If its an OBD2 Del SOl and he got and OBD2 H22, then the car CAN PASS with no CEL

If its an OBD2 Del Sol and he got an OBD1 H22, IT WILL NOT PASS, itll throw a code for the Crankshaft Position Sensor.

the G35 concersion aint really nuthin dude, now these days everyone is doing crazy ass conversions (fiberglass), and the motor situation, if the del sol is OBD2 then most likely he has a OBD2 H22 then vice versa with the OBD1. Now if he has a OBD2 sol but wanted a OBD1 H22 then he would have gotten the conversion harness from the link above or skunk2 and such. Either way it goes there is always a way to pass emissions dude, but then again some places dont require it. Hope that helps.

A conversion harness is used to switch a CARs ECU to OBD1. or from OBD0 to OBD1. in "honda" world, the standard for ECU's has been OBD1. THey have Onboard Roms that are able to be hacked and modified, unlike OBD2 where there is no ROM on the ECU board, there is nothing to "chip" so to speak on an OBD2 ecu.

90% of the systems available for hondas aer built around the OBD1 code (hondata, Uberdata, Crome, etc)

The only option for OBD2 cars is FULL STANDALONE computers that eliminate the factory ECU, like AEM EMS.

The conversion harness will convert a obd2 car to obd1, then you run an OBd1 ecu and you have a much more user friendly ecu and car to tune and drive. However, when emissions time comes around (if it applies to you) depending on the year of your car determines what test they do. if you have a OBd2 car, they must scan the dataport and scan the ECU for CEL. if your OBD2 car is converted to OBD1, it wont pass, cause the obd1 ECU doesnt use the same protocol. you have to switch it back to obd2 (which is as simple as plugging the OBD2 ecu in.) however, throw a CEL and you will fail.
