This is better suited for the MOTORCYLCE section seeing as how these people know a lot more about them than what you might find in the WL. Later, QD.

im about 6'2 around 180 so im not a heavy guy but kinda tall. i dont like wheelies and all that. but i love speed. so no stunting but go fast. but i dont know all that about running from the police. i mean i dont like them and they dont like me but id rather get a ticket than risking wrecking and getting killed or taken to jail by the 5-0.

TL's are pigs, but you just have to love a japanese sport twin's exhaust note. i have a few riding buddies that ride them and love them, but these are all 225+lb guys that have done extensive work on the bikes to drop weight and improve handling. in stock/mildly modded form it's a cool bike, but if you really like to rail then keep the 600.

the real question here is what type of riding do you do? mostly around town? mountains? trackdays? the low end grunt of the twin is going to be great when riding around town, you don't have to rev to 11k to make power on the TL. on the flip side the weight of the bike will make it a lot more tiring to ride if you do any long days in the mountains or on the track. the other side of it that would make me say no is the fact that it's clearly a stunna's bike, and i couldn't bring myself to own something that's been stunted on.

as for the "and BTW if you own a bike -you will run from the cops at one time r another,at 180mph all your thinking about is not getting cought" comment... that's the dumbest shit i've heard in a long long time. then again if all you do is run 170 down the highways and weave in and out of traffic then i guess you're just asking for it. i've owned bikes for several years and never even thought of running from the cops, and none of the people i ride with have done it either (even the ones that could easily outdo a police cruiser in the hills) and most of them are 15-20 year veterans of riding sportbikes.

I heard about alot of complaints with TL's.....they have electric gremlins...from time to time.

and I agree with HIPSI.....if you want to run from the cops, then that's your business....you'll get yours in the end. I never EVER had a thought to run away, and there's been plenty of times where it wouldve taken less than a second to just blip the throttle and disappear, but for the simple fact...I was doing something wrong and I mine as well not place myself in any danger and just face facts....and I got off both times because I stopped.Yeah, me and hipsi just go like 20mph, EVERYWHERE we go. So besides stunting, you can go fast in straight lines? Ever been to a track day besides watching? Hipsi is a good mtn rider and pretty fast lap turner at the track....so dont be so quick to judge and spout off stupid shit. So do I belong on a harley because I weigh the better choice?

goto www.georgiasportbike.com and post up your original post and see what they have to say. You wont be a long term memeber.

That's fine and dandy you've been riding for 22yrs....so you are what? 38yrs old? Because you have to be 16 with parental consent before getting a motorcycle license. 16 +22 = 38.

You'd think at 38, you be able to make better choices. but I really doubt you are 38....I think you were just exaggerating how long you have been riding.

it's all a matter of opinion really. i know some 200lb guys that are faster on 600's than literbikes (at least on the track) because they are just plain more comfortable on them.

and where did R6dummy's post go?

Lol. I'm 5'7" and currently 175 lbs and ride a 40hp 500cc standard bike... i'm no WERA racer, but I get around plenty fast around town and the twisties (i don't take mine to the track).

In all honesty, the only non-racing (as in, you're not on a racetrack) reason to move up to a liter-bike is for the torque in the low-end. So, unless you're: 1. into habitually breaking traffic laws or 2. Constanttly riding on roads where all the traffic consists of 911's, ferrarris and other cars that do 0-60 in under 4 seconds (yeah, right... maybe if you lived in Malibu or something)... then i'm going to take a leap to a conclusion and say that a 600 is plenty fast for someone of your size and mass.

just wanted to put my 2 cents in here. I am 5'8" and 155 lbs. I started of on a 98 GSXR 750, I loved it, got a lot of hate from other people b/c I was a little guy on a big bike, took it to the strip every now and then and out ran a lot of the guys there. had it 3 years then it got hijacked. now I have a 2004 CBR 1000RR I have striped it down so it looks like a 600RR now but I still get LOTS of hate b/c I am now a little guy on a even bigger bike that most people think is a 600 till I smoke them! (HAHA). I am on it about 95% of the time I am going somewhere, I love it, long trips, short trips, it doesn't matter, I just love to ride. I break a few rules every now and then, just like most of the rest of us. wouldn't trade it for anything else though. thing is that I am spoiled now, I am used to that TQ that's there when ever I want it. my bike is comfortable enough to ride all the time, and I feel comfortable riding it. here is my point, ride a 400 or a 1300 it doesn't matter, just ride what you are comfortable on, its more about the rider in a lot of cases than the bike. There are a lot of 600's out there that will hang with me just fins b/c the rider knows his or her bike and isn't afraid of using it.
just ride to your skill level and get a bike that will let you improve but not one that will scare you to the point that you wont improve.
