so when you push it down it squeeks? sounds like it could be one of a few things, throw out bearing being one.. springs in the clutch assembly being the other. either way you have to drop the tranny to see what it is. if you are taking it that far you need to likely replace the clutch/pressure plate/throw out bearing all at the same time.

no. you dont have to do shit, you can keep drving it until something worse happens. like the throw out bearing failing (exploding, melting, etc) or a spring falling out of the clutch assembly. either way everything is fine then one day you no longer have a clutch... well atleast not one that will disengage.

could be, i figured if it was squeeking inside the car he would have been able to figure that out with out posting on a forum asking what it could be.. i may be wrong.

Usually a throwout bearing will make the noice with the clutch depressed, no pressed in. If you press the clutch in and it makes a noice, as spyder man said, it usually is a loose spring on the clutch disk.

if its just a quick SQUEAK when the clutch is put in, it might be a cable.
