    Default don't know what's wrong...(connecting rods)

my car has a bad oil leak...after driving in a line with my club it started to act strange...i put it in 5th and started to accelerate...but it gave me a jerking...(there is no power) type of situation...so i sent to a lower gear and it kinda did the same thing just not as strong...what we figured out was that i was running on oil fumes...(didn't know i had an oil leak and just put 2 quarts in it).
so we pulled over and tried to assess the problem. My leader said that i sounds and feels like the rods were stretching. so we put the car on a trailer and hauled it off to my house...after weeks of it sitting there (no money to take to mechanic), i decided to start taking this thing apart...
since we thought it was the rods i figured "hey i need to rebuild". So after getting all the way down to getting ready to take off the drive axles(and saving money to get an air compressor) i decided to look at my rods while they are still in the car. oil pan off i look up at my camshaft (looks good) then i look at my rods. I've seen rods enough times to tell if they are stretched or worn and need to be replaced...these rods look to be in great condition...so i've come to the conclusion that it's not the rods...(and i studied them for a good 20 mins turning timing belt to get all the angles i could). What else could have caused this? (in the sense of it looking and sounding like a connecting rod issus)

any insight would be great...i'll post pics as soon as i can get them uploaded.

What car? Year? Engine? This could be timing or something, but u did say it had no oil in it i think, so did u try to add oil to it and drive it again? Before u start taking the motor apart we need to know more of the problem??????

Yea that made very little sense. Please clarify with the info that turbodude stated we needed before we continue.

There is no way way you can look up through the oil pan and tell if the cam and rods are good. But then again, not much you are saying makes any sense...

Thats awesome, how did you see the cam through the oil pan?? You have way bigger issues if thats the case...
