Mint '94 vr4 125k... worth $10k?
my buddy found a 1994 mitsubishi gt3000 VR4 w/125,000 miles and we're supposed to go look at it today...
he asked me what i thought but i know nothing about mitsubishi... wondering what to look for in these cars and if it's worth fucking $10,000. sounds kinda ridiculous to me, but the thing is fucking minty minty fresh.
any quick input would be awesome.

no, not worth 10k. I have seen cheaper, and lower mileage. Unless it's in eat off it clean condtion.
i don't know about 10k man, more like 7-8k. but thats IMHO.
i mean, kbb says about 6500, for the best condition. but it has to be fucking unbelieveably clean.

I had a stealth with a vr4 swap and I fucking loved that car... the ergos of the seating inside the cabin was comfy. Everything was nicely visible. The car pulled like crazy. I only had issues with my tranny, and the rear wheel bearings. Other than that, it was a great car.

Walk up, lay 6K...take it or leave it. Cars are hard to sell these days, everybody is broke. It's worth that much.
Turbo seals, check if they are leaking, check for smoke out of tail pipe (sign of turbo goin bad, and other things goin bad). I'd say get a compression test on it too, must on boosted cars.
That might work with a private seller. but I doubt a dealer will take a 4k cut in price! they have a lot more overhead and probably have a good 6k invested in the car themselves! Throwing down 6k like your big money will probably result in them showing you the door!

not worth 10k, i mean i like these cars a lot, but not 10k worth. MAYBE 7 at most, and thats if im feeling good

Having had to work on these cars, it is not the best vehicle to buy. For the money that would be spent to purchase and keep up the condition of the car, if it is flawless, you could buy a much much better more dependable car. The car looks immaculate but as the saying goes....You can polish a turd, but....

$10k would put a mildly built LS2 in a Z32 300zx with upgraded suspension. Now that would be fun and reliable.
yeah we went and looked at it and it is def not worth the money. i think this was the final step in convincing him not to get it lol.
When i posted i didn't see who was selling it or where it's coming from. Dealers can cut here an there, it's been done. Smaller dealers are probably harder to budge, but they'll budge. Starting with 6k will end up getting the car for 7-8K. Throwing don't mean acting like big money, talking has to go along with it too.
If he wants to spend 10K then, like Jason said...10k with LSx Z32, RB 240 or LS 240, look hard enough you can find FD shell cheap and get LSx in there for that much too. So many projects.
LS 240 for 10K? why doesnt everybody have one? seriously! Im going that route after college now.
You can do a 2JZGTE 240 for under 10k if you wanted.
