If the injectors are High Impedance injectors from an OBD1 SOHC remove the resistor box. If you are going to use the Y8 distributor you will need an OBD1/OBD2 ecu and convert the car accordingly. If you have an OBD1 D15B VTEC engine, I am really not sure how you bolted up a Y8 distributor. That PO7 Ecu needs a 5 wire O2 to operate correctly, but is going to make that D15B run like shit regardless.Originally Posted by D15B
Here is what I would recommend if you are running a D15B VTEC.
- Put the original A6 harness on the D15B plug everything up.
- Find a Z6 distributor, bolt that up.
- Convert the car to OBD1 with a jumper harness or whatever, add the
necessary wires.
- Trade those ecu's or sell them for a P28.
- Remove the resistor box and wire the one red wire to the 4 black wires
- Make sure you are using a 4 wire O2 sensor.
Everything should work then. It may seem like you are getting spark if you somehow wired the the Y8 dizzy to the OBD0 harness, but really it is a very weak spark that is inadequate to ignite your air/fuel mixture. And when you put a resistor box on High Impedance injectors, they will not flow as they should.
