I just put some of this on, because my stock weather stripping is very tattered and vibrates in the door jams on the highway making awfully loud noise. I decided to drop $15 on a 25 foot roll of this stuff (I got the one designed to go between a pickup truck bed, and the bed tanau cover because it is flat with sticky tape on one side). I have to say this stuff WORKS and works very well. It's like I installed sound deadening, the road noise, engine noise, and everything is tuned waaaaaaay down. I can listen to the radio at a lower volume without having to fight over the road noise, I can hear the softer details in the songs, and when you close the door, it makes that new car "Thwump" noise instead of the 26 year old car "clunkukukuk" (loud clunk then minuscule rattling). I wish I could get sound clips of closing the doors, and driving before and after, but now it's completely installed. Basically this thread is just to let you know it works well, even though it's not fitted from the factory, and its generic, because most generic things that can be used on any car suck. If you have a car from the 80s, or something with noisy air leaks around the upper edge of the door, get some, you won't regret it. I've heard it's good for the hood too if you want a good sealed off engine bay, and it also seems like it would be good for sealing off cold air intake boxes, making a leaky sunroof ro trunk better, and in theory, a generous amount near all of the seams should reduce wind drag.
The only negative is I have to slam the door a little harder to close it because of the surface area and foam it has to push back, but I think that's ok because slamming is less bad for the door with such a cushioned impact.
