    Default 5th gear swap????

    I have a GSR and at hwy speeds (70+ mph), the 5th gear rpm is kind of high. (approximately 4000 rpms)

    Does anyone know if its possible to swap JUST the 5th gear from an LS or RS? Has anyone done this?

    I dont want to swap out my tranny just the gear....

    i've heard of it being done with miatas

    you're complaining about 4k rpms???....lol try being at 5k at 80mph.. or 46-47 @ 70mph... b16 tranny ftw

    at 70 you should be sitting at 3500 on the dot and 4k at 80mph.

    if you want it that badly then shell out the $ but i wouldnt spend it for just the 5th gear

    You can do an LS final.....but i dont think the RPMs will be that much lower will they?

    Im not sure but my friend will install the 5th gear from an LS if he knows it'll work. I was just throwing it out there to see if anyone has tried it before as I do alot of high way driving and simply wanted to conserve on fuel....

    Well it really wont be alot of money as my friend will do it for free but simply wanted to know if it would work....

    Well considering i do alot of highway driving, i was simply asking...

    If it were at 5k, I'd definitely change it out

    gsr and ls trannys have about the same 5th gear. it wont be worth it. if you had a b16 tranny then you would see a difference.
