    Default My nightmare...

Hey peeps, getting really close to complete on my build and thought Id share some details here. Its an '89 TII, redtop SR swap, mid FMIC, some other small mods. Should be a fun lil whip when (if?) I ever get it done, work is slow right now but its coming together.

Hmm, cool stuff man. I wouldn't worry about the people that don't like it. They aren't the ones driving it. And it's not like it's an eyesore or anything. Reps for being different (and more reliable )

Thanks everyone, ya it should be pretty fun. Still a lot of work left to do but the majority of the hard stuff is over.

And why not do it? Its not like the 13B is powerhouse, or fun to work on, or trouble free, or great on gas, or really anything special. Of course thats my opinion, I know some people would disagree whole-heartedly.

looks good man. Shoulda just used a NA rx7 rather than killing off a turbo 2 but I can't wait to see it done regardless. How much more do you have to do?

I hear ya, it was definitely a fun car to own until the motor let go. The body was too nice to let go of, though, aside from the blue interior I love the styling on these cars so much!

Oh ya, whats left to do. Basically a bunch of small shit on top of essentials like the IC piping, radiator brackets, PS lines and ressy, tach signal, and a few other things.

I hope you are kidding about more reliable. I had a ton more problems out of my SR20 that i had ever had out of my 13BT, I also flog on my FC harder that i ever did on my SR.

I admit, I'm kinda disappointed that you're ditching the rotary.

As long as you do the SR RIGHT and don't turn that clean FC into an S13 in an FC shell, it'll be aiight.

I plan on going 2JZ when I re-enlist in <2 years, so I can't hate on you TOO much for going piston.

lol its a bone stock SR, not a lot of right and wrong coming into play so far The rest of the car is getting standard FC treatment pretty much.

It's different for sure, you will definitely get better gas mileage, and Sounds better (imo). I've always been a fan of "anything but a rotary" swaps (unless its an old toyota lol) hope it works out for you.

Got the radiator and intercooler buttoned up today, think I might have a hard time finding a top hose. Cold pipe is a work in progress.

I actually think its a great swap. Sr20 are cheap and very strong. They aren't plagued by the same problems as the rotaries. GL with the project!

You should talk to Kyle @ Lethal.

He is the piping and welding guru.

I saw the piping on your car when it was being built, looked pretty good.

True, not the best swap when it comes to a verry clean S5 TII

I will always respectfully disagree with people swapping motors that are A. of Different make in to a car or B. Inferior in my opinion. But thats just me.

Really? Cross-platform swap piss you off? To me its the best way to build exactly the type of car you want, whatever that may be. Shoot, a buddy of mine's pops was banned from open wheel sprint racing in Wisconsin because he built a rotary-powered car in the late 70's and raped everyone. I wouldnt hate on him, thats just ingenuity.

Thanks! I took a lot of time with the small things on this car, hopefully it pays off.

x2 Its all just a bunch of metal anyways! And I bet if it was a LS1, nobody would be complaining.

It's funny how many people hate on SRs. I wonder how many of them have actually owned an SR-powered car.

I put about 40,000mi on an SR, and only sold the car because the chassis was becoming too ragged out. The SR performed perfectly. I not only raced it (drag, autoX, mtn runs), but daily drove it, and made a bunch of road trips (I think I drove it to Orlando like 5-6 times).

Mad props for swapping in a reliable powerplant with great aftermarket support, that will actually maintain the dynamics of the vehicle.

I would. The rotary is already a great powerhouse, its pointless for a brand swap. Don't get me wrong the SR,LS,2J's are great motors but imo its a lazy move. Then the funny thing is they still call them rx7's.
