    Default Bypass valve upgrade..

For the dsm peeps, who stick witha Bypass valve, and dont chang it over to a atmospheriv BOv. Anyone ever use the Forge Bpv? I heard alot of dsm ppl use them. Just wondering if its worth it. Iw as gonna swap out my plastic bpv on my probe with the metal ones that come on Dsm's but, might as well get a new one, that i know wont leak...like mine is now.

soo anyone familiar with Forge Bypass valves?

Dude Forge is pretty much the same as a 1st gen dsm except more expensive. The reason dsm's don't change to atmosphere with that or ANY piston type valve is because it will stutter. You'd need a blow through setup on most dsm to not run into any problems.

I have a crushed 1g bov that can hold at least 22 psi {tested on my car} sitting around since I got the HKS. Just pm me if you want it.

Ill take it, but what setup are using in replace of your bypass valve? And are u recirculating it? i know its different cars/motors, but did the idle change? Does it run rich? Does it backfire? Since the bov change? Those are things that some have said happens to probes when they change to Bov's, the setups are similar on the two motors just wondering if it occurs with the dsm's. i really wanted just to get the SSQ with the recirculating kit and call it a day.

if you have a suck through setup, meaing you maf is before your bov, your car will studder and run rich between shifts if you vent. If you have a blow through, meaning your maf is after your bov, then you can vent or recirculate with no problems. This is because on a suck through setup air is aleady "counted" by the ecu, thus the ecu has calculated how much fuel to ad for that much air, if you vent it, the air will not be there.
I've never heard of the forge bov, but the 1g dsm ones work awsome, it holds boost great and is cheap. 1gguys dont have to upgrade, 2g spend ~50 to upgrade to one.

Yeah it vents close to the turbo.

My 240 was also maf and it did not studder in between shifts. It depends on the car.

I have a ssqv and since it is pull type and NOT piston type it doesnt leak and your car wouldn't studder. Mine is not recirced and I have no problems.

As far as venting with any bov you'll run rich between shifts but its no big thing.

Might try with a Bov just to see how i like it, but all the high power guys run a bov...soo who knows.....i hate forum mechanics. ill run it recirc until i get a afc and see what happens. What u mean by crushed? this is all new vocal to me.. lol

It's crushed so the spring on the 1g can hold more boost.

A "recirc kit" for bovs that are already made to be either recirc or VTA consists of a proper size/length hose and a couple of clamps... stuff you can buy at your local auto parts store.

I recirculate my current GReddy Type-S and get plenty of sound without any VTA drawbacks.

ok, I realize I may be sounding like an idiot here, but I goota ask. Ive got a 97 gst. Now there is a hose (or supposed to be a hose) between my bov (greddy) and my intake (injen). I took that hose off a long time ago, and capped the intake side. Should my car be studdering when under power and running rich between shifts.

It wont studder when in boost only when decel because it will leak, originally into your intake so there would be no problem.

Basically it depends on the car, some do it some dont. DSMs are picky about piston type BOVs, If it aint broke dont fix it.

Some cars dont studder, some do. mine didnt. but my AF sad i was rich

I really dont want to go into the reasoning behind me being right, but believe me when i say i am.
