Thread: MKIII Trouble

    Default MKIII Trouble

So I was driving my car home the other day and the oil light started flashing and a terrible beeping noise came from the dash. My first thought was the oil pump but now I think otherwise. I've continued to drive it like this for over a month now, the car still runs great, but after about 30 mins of driving, that beeping/alarm oil light thing goes off again. Any suggestions?

If you are using a non-OEM (Fram, etc) oil filter the oil light will come on sometimes. Fram doesn't use the right valve inside the filter and it can cause you to have low oil pressure.

You need an OEM oil filter, Bosch, Mann, Mahle. Anything else (other than maybe Wix or Napa Gold) won't have the right valve. Autozone carries the Bosch filters for about $5.
