Is an H22a4 a good motor to build
ok i jus bought a h22a4 to put into my 96 civic and i was jus wondering if it was worth building cuz im planning on turbo the motor and was jus wondering if it was a real strong motor or not...thanx
ohh yea if anybody has any parts or anything i might need for my swap plzzz let me kno....
yes as long as it isnt the ATTS motor

In general, the motor is very strong. However, the FRM sleeves are the H22A4's Achilles heel. They do not hold up well to forced induction, especially if you are planning on running anything above 5psi or so. If you are planning on going all out, get it sleeved. It's not that expensive compared to the turbo kit you are going to potentially buy anyway. You won't be disappointed.Originally Posted by Le_Stat

I ran 7lbs tune on a stock H22A4 for about a year without any issues...But daily was 3-4lbs an high boost was 7 lbs....
But yes do it right or not at all....

great all motor engine but very expensive to turbo
you can do as tech5 says and run low boost but thats all you can do without spending a good amount of change

it came out of a 97 prelude so i think it is the atts motor is that bad?
Well even with that it might not be, you have to look at the back of the block an see if it was for the atts or not...If it is you will not be able to use that block in a civic because it doesnt use a Halfshaft ...Only way you can use it if you know a Great TIG welder and install bungs so you can use the halfshaft...

You should of bought a JDM H22. They are closed deck and are better for boost. My cars been boosted for a while and no problems. As far as the atts goes they came from the SH model preludes. I don't know about swapping it into a civic but i know the atts doesn't like more than 250hp.
