ok so i belive its my bushing or soming on top here thats causing my prob...i have too much play from left to right on my shifter.no play up to down motion..ideas?? any one have wut i need???

its probably the bushing. my brothers e30 ad the same problem. only problem is theres like 3 different bushings and in order to get the right one you gotta order the whole kit.

Yeah it's the bushing, usually the one at the bottom causes this.
I don't even know how to do it on my trans.. The top looks sealed.. My miata and other 5 speeds had 3 - 4 bolts on the top and shifter comes off
pull that rubber piece off. its kinda hard to pull it out but it comes out. then you can see everything
Ok, so the "C" clamp then the whit plastic ring thing then it should all pop out with bushings inside?
Should be a little cup. They get worn out over time. Causes free play.
