Default 96 civic dome light problem?? please help

I have a 96 Civic ex coupeand the dome light will not come on when you open either door. Its been like that since ive owned the car. It will work if you turn the light on of course but its kinda annoying that it dont work with the doors. I took the drivers side switch that turns it on and off and tried grounding it and nothing. I assume thats all that does is allow it to ground when its open, but I could be wrong. Anybody else have this problem, if so how do I fix it. And my a/c lights dont work all the time. I took them out and I guess ill just replace them. Anybody else have that problem and fix it that way. Any help would be appriciated

I just fixed mine, if you installed a after marker radio, then the green plug that isnt taped down on the radio plug there is a light green/red stripe wire and a light green/black stripe wire going to it/ cut it and tape them 2 wires together. I cant guarantee that will work for everybody, but it worked for me.
