    Default Chevy's Wonderful 3.1L

Why didnt anybody TELL me that the 3.1 was the worst motor ever created by Chevy? Seriously!?!?! I've had this Buick for 3 months and its cost me more than my motor swap for my broke Civic. OMFG!

They are really great powerful engines actually, Just there are a few things that goes bad when Neglected
The intake gaskets suck, water pumps, and dont ever! let them run hot, they will warp the heads super fast!

But I like the 3.8L the best ! very fast engine! for a V6 stock car too

also many Cop cars use the 3.1L an 3.4L impala's in many of the patrol cars

the 2.8L IMO is the worst GM v6 ever, but then again the 3.1l and the 2.8l are both 60degree v6's. yes the 3.8l(3800sc) is the best V6.

back in the day i had a 2000 malibu with a 3.1L and also used to have a 2.8L s10... both motors were crap. the 3.1L had massive overheating problems and i replaced the intake manifold gasket twice, water pump twice and thermostat twice... after that i got tired of messing with it so i sold it... definitely wont own another 3.1L from GM again... the 2.8 in the s10 wasnt so bad i guess, just the transmission was sh!t... thats just my and experience with these motors...

I hate the 60* design. They smushed everything together, which makes everything a pain in the ass. But the 3.4 in my S-10 is holding up pretty well. I just wish I could set the valves with the engine running.

I love the 4.3. My 90 Blazer drives awesome other than a vacuum leak at 139k. I also had a 93 2.8 and gotta say, I've had less problems out of my 4.3 since I got it in 2006.

The 4.3L is a pretty decent engine, I've heard that they are closely related to the 5.7L V8, just two less cylinders or something like that. If that is the case, then it should be tried and true, like the 3800, that engine is pretty awesome. I've been happy with the 3400 in my Impala, I've run into and over a lot of stuff and it is a top, I know why cops use these cars now, you can't kill it. If only my car got great gas mileage, then I'd be perfect.
