ITBs -vs- AFTERMARKET IM
so what do yall think! debating either ITB's or aftermarket! IM for bseries!
stock GSR block, built GSR head, JDM ITR cams!
ITB's vs skunk2 pro series IM & sk2 TB ...
which would have a better gain.. and the ITB's will consist of from a 600cc CBR ITBs fabbed with oem GSR IM flange .. and some fab .. which will gain more?

are you planning on this being a daily driver especially in lot's of traffic or just a weekend/night car? itb's will have better throttle response and some more gains, but also less driveability...you would probably get used to it, but itb's probably won't be good on a commuter car.

I was building ITB's for my Miata using a cut stock manifold with GSXR600 tb's connected with heavy duty couplings. There are quite a few Miata guys dd'ing with ITB's, you might want to check out some of their pros and cons as it's just general tech not Miata specific. ITB's require more tuning then just a aftermarket IM, and a lot more tinkering with.
+1. Most any car with ITB's will have more power if done right. Look at race cars...
yeah I might definately want to make it work on mines.. i'll see how it goes.. i just want to get an idea of how other users of ITBs are making there homemade ITB's work, like which throttle cables will work.. and so on.. to get an idea.. we'll better do some research before jumping on it ..

tuning is more critical and if not done right part throttle can be a little difficult...if tuned correctly it's not as much of an issue. the tune is a combination of map and tps based and has to be tinkered with so the transition is smoother. due to the nature of itb's you progress to 0"vac with much less throttle position and have more of an on/off driving unless someone takes the time to play with the tune. the response is still different and takes getting used to...it'll be a fun car to drive.

Dude, just get the Professional Products (AEBS) intake manifold ($160 on honda-tech) and get the professional products 65mm throttle body($150 on Honda-tech).

I think you would probably make more power with the IM and TB. ITBs work on a race car b/c there is a race motor to go with them. Talk to blackR on here, he lost power switching to ITBs and his setup is pretty well modded, hytech header, toda cams, cam gears, itr engine, reving it to 10k, dont really remember what else. I know for K series the cars that make the most power run intake manifolds.
Depends if your girl likes you smelling like pump gas or not. You have to tune it for the climate, altitude, etc. Seasons change then you'll probably need to re-tune it, etc.
Throttle response before power.
As Josh mentioned, you can get just as much or more power from a proper intake manifold and throttle body setup anyways.
Personally if it's a hot performance car then I want to see ITB's on it :boobies:

In any tuned vehicle changes in climate will effect it: temperature, humidity, barometric pressure, etc. The question is can the ECU or Standalone compensate for it.
in a honda the ecu can compensate a little and changes in temperature, altitude, barometric pressure will affect the power it makes, but it will still be in tune-just making different power. however, w/ intake/tb you can at least run a cai to get cooler air to the motor on hot summer days. unless you run w/o a hood you're injesting under hood air. you could build a plenum around the itb and then run a cai to get the best of both worlds, but the effort and $ you put in may not be worth the gains you see over a good intake/tb/cai setup.
