what is the idle at?
like at first start up its around 1k but then it drops to about 800 or 700
like i checked for a leak and it seamed like it was leaking a tad bit but its not that low on the dipstick. Could it be something wrong with the oil pressure?
Yes.... park that mother fucker ASAP. That oil pump is gone.
Unless, by some chance in hell you got lucky and just have a loose connection on the oil pressure switch, or a bad oil pressure switch.
low on oil .. sometimes it means messed up OIL PUMP! or not enuff oil pressure being sent .. somewhere..

This is correct. I had the same thing happen to me. I bet the oil pressure is next to nothing at idle. Thats why the oil light or Dummy light is coming on. Better repalce the oil pump ASAP before you trash your crank and spin bearingsOriginally Posted by SiRed94

yup oil pump is the problem
Get a mechanical gauge just to eliminate the sensor/wiring 1 in a Million possibility. But do not drive it at all. There is a chance that the engine bearings are already shot due to Honda's wonderful design on their oil pressure sensors (not coming on until you have absolutely no oil pressure). So, if you install a new oil pump, check the pick up tube screen for bearing pieces, and also the bottom of the oil pan, and/or cut the oil filter open. If you don't see any bearing pieces, you may be able to just get a new pump and ride, but chances are, you are over 200k anyways and changing out the mains and rod bearings wouldn't be a bad idea either. Especially if you are going to be driving hard. And it may be cheaper to just get another block.
wow holy sh**t my motor seems to be somewhat intact, when i changed my oil i didnt notice any bearing pieces. Thanks for you guys for the help , is the oil pump an easy install or should i just take it to a shop? i'm kinda broke and this is my DD. Anymore solutions?
Oil pump is pretty time consuming. Have to take off the all the accessory belts, crank pulley, timing covers, engine mount, timing belt, oil pan, pick up tube, etc. If you are not very mechanically inclined, I wouldn't recommend trying it yourself.Originally Posted by jdm_dunks89
wow .....f**ck that seems like expensive labor.....
If you want your oil light to go off, just take apart your cluster and pull out the light.![]()
wow, there is a cheap solution! hahahahahaha
